So often my posts are about my hardships with SOD and bitching and complaining.
But today - today I just want to be thankful for those things that are often over looked. Yes, we can go over and over again about how thankful we are for family and friends and food and shelter but...there's so many little, simple things that are taken for granted...and here is my small list of things that I've been thinking about lately that I am very thankful for.
1. Sunny, warm weather perfect for no blow drying crazy-wearing curly hair with no guilt. (Hopeful for an early spring!)
2. Friends that say exactly what you need to hear.
3. And friends that know when silence is the best thing to "say."
4. Soul cleansing cry-fests
5. Nap time for both mom and baby
6. Book clubs where the book is the least important thing discussed during the night.
7. The I-can-handle-anything days
8. That golden extra hour of sleep. or 30 minutes. or even 15 minutes.
9. Breakfast for dinner
10. Baby Jeans
11. New goals, because it means the old goals were met
12. Looking towards the future with much anticipation (instead of panic and anxiety)
13. Dancing and singing in the kitchen at the top of your lungs with a smiling baby on your hip (at least someone enjoys my singing!)
14. Waking up to a very happy child
15. Friends in every part of your life - Childhood friends, college friends, mommy friends, etc
16. Reading a bedtime story and getting choked up (whether because it's the best part of the day, the story or the overwhelming love in the air! It happens at the best of times!)
17. When the hallmark card says exactly what you want to say because lets face it, they word it much better!
18. A song that fits the moment perfectly. I think back on the most important moments of my life and there is a song that can describe how it was and can bring back the feelings amazingly well. For example, and a big one at that, When we were still in the hospital, still digesting LB's diagnosis and trying to hold onto our sanity and our hearts, Dennis and I both acknowledged this song (Muse - Invincible) and it helped us pull back and realize that hey, we were all together, we were all alive, and we were going to be okay. HUGE moment and such a perfect song that hits right in my heart to this day.
19. Free playdates
20. Catching new "tricks" on video
21. Eating what you want when you want it. Chocolate chip cookies, anyone?
22. Realizing you're not going to settle or give up
23. Having a mantra that works 90% of the time mine is "Love is patient" (others that work are "Don't make things worse by taking your anger out on someone else" and "there's always nap time")
24. Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
25. Getting phone calls, texts or emails from people that just let you know they're thinking of you.
That's it for now. Sometimes it's nice to look at your life and realize you have so much to be thankful for, even the smallest things. Tell me some of yours!
P.S. Words cannot express how thankful I am for this
