What came first...

The thirst or the peeing?

Seriously. It's a question someone posed on our DI board. What happens first to our kids, Do they get insanely thirsty or do they start peeing and then get so thirsty they need more water?

Lily's doctor asks me this all the time. "Well, is she peeing more?"  Yes! She is! Possibly because she's drinking about 100oz of liquid a day!? So is she peeing because of break through peeing or is she peeing because she can't hold onto her water and her sodium is rapidly rising or is she just a human betsy wetsy doll and is peeing because she's drinking so much.

Day time is okay. Once the ddavp is in she only needs about 18oz to calm down enough to leave her cups lying around the room half empty. Then comes nap time + break through peeing time and when she gets up she has about 27oz before her next dose calms her back down.
It's the night time from 7-11p that is the hardest. Of course.
Again, we do the best with the cloth diapers we have and stuff a BG4.0 with the big BG microfiber, bamboo insert and a hemp insert. Then we cover that diaper up with a wool cover. (for those not in the cloth diapering world, this is a wonderful night time diaper and would hold a normal baby for 12 hours easily.)
And still she is waking up after FOUR hours completely drenched. Wet enough to change her pajamas, her sheets and usually her blanket as well.
I'm doing sheets, pajamas, waterproof pads laundry almost every day.
And we're back to having to put an extra waterproof pad on top of the sheets (although the other night she peed through a waterproof pad and I had to change the entire bedding in the middle of the night.)

Den wants to try not giving her anything to drink before bed but I'm not sure that is going to fly with LB. One reason is because a cup of milk is part of our routine and another is because she usually won't fall asleep without something to drink first.
Den also says we should think outside of the cloth diapering box since normal cloth diapering stuff isn't working (sposies aren't either, of course, and we were very close to having a busted sposie the other night. ICK)
Den actually suggested trying a shamwow in our daughters diaper.
C'mon, you kinda have to laugh at that!
